Shoe Box Sunday

This Christmas, as in Christmases past, St. Joseph School will be participating in Shoe Box Sunday, to reach out to families in our community with very special Christmas projects.

The primary classes will be preparing shoe boxes.

Here's how it works:

You will need a shoe box and some time to shop together (new items only please). Choose a child you would like to shop for (boy or girl, age ranges 1–3, 4–6, 7–9, 10–12, and/or 13–15).

Your box may include some of these items (keeping in mind the appropriate age range):
School Supplies Hygiene Items Treats (nut-free &
individually wrapped
or prepackaged)
Clothes Toys
Crayons Soap Gum Socks Ball
Pencils Washcloth Crackers T-shirts Games
Sharpener Toothbrush Pretzels Shorts Cars
Construction Paper Toothpaste Cookies Gloves Legos
Ruler Comb Chocolate Hat Puzzles
Scissors Brush Lollipops Slippers Yo-Yo
Glue stick  Hair ties or bows Jolly Ranchers Scarf Play Doh
Craft Supplies Chapstick Fruit Gums PJs Puppet
Coloring Book Bandaids Candy Canes Costume jewelry Paper airplane kits
Book Tissues Hot Chocolate Tie Jump rope
Markers Deodorant Juice box Wallet Action Figures
Pencil Case Nail file   Handbag Doll
Stickers Nail polish   Sunglasses Stuffed animal
Sketchbook Nail clippers   Belt Trading Cards
Shopping with your child for the shoebox items — while taking the time to explore the ideas of caring for those who are less fortunate, being grateful for all the blessings in your life, and the warm feelings that come from caring for and helping others — is a beautiful gift for both you and your child this Christmas.

Please wrap your gift, attach the appropriate gift tag using the labels below, or from the flyer that came from the school (checking off the age range that applies), and bring your gift box to the 9:30 am Mass on December 6th. Father will invite the children to place their gifts at the altar during the offertory. If you won't be in attendance that morning, your child may bring their shoebox to school before that weekend, and their gift will be included.

The junior and intermediate classes are preparing Christmas hampers to give to families in our community. The Christmas hamper also includes the family's Christmas dinner. If your family would like to donate $25.00 towards a gift voucher for a turkey, please contact the school.
